First Moon Circle
First Moon refers to a person’s first menstrual period, also known as their menarche.
A First Moon Circle is a group education and celebration of this essential and powerful rite of passage created by Charlotte Pointeaux, Menstrual Cycle Coach and founder of First Moon Circles.
Whether they have started their period, haven’t bled yet, or if any of their friends have - this is the perfect opportunity for girls to feel proud, gain knowledge, become empowered, and know how to support themselves physically, emotionally, and spiritually at this time in their life.
Private Circles for your daughter and her friends are available; more details below.
Who are First Moon Circles suitable for?
Perfect for girls aged 8-13 years, whether she has started her period in the last 1-2 years or hasn’t bled yet and their mothers or guardians. *NOTE: Private Circle is available for older girls; it’s never too late to learn.

What happens at a First Moon Circle?
First Moon Circles are split into 2 parts:
PART 1: Periods, puberty and cycles
We start with a 2h experience just for the group to come together, have fun, be silly, make new friends, and learn accurate information about what’s happening to their physical body, as well as their emotional and spiritual selves as they approach and encounter menarche (the first period, or first moon).
In Part I, First Mooners Learn About:
- What periods and puberty are, what happens during this stage of development and what they can expect to notice, sense and feel within their body and emotions,
- An introduction to the female body, hormones, and the reproductive system, Introduction to Cycle Awareness (remember, the period is just 1 part of a 4 stage cycle!) and how our energy, superpowers and needs change across the month,
- Introduction to self-care for their cycle (a couple of examples include: why rest is important, why its ok if suddenly they might feel a bit cranky and how to nurture themselves through the pre-menstrual phase),
- Body and earth friendly period product options and a chance to play with different options,
- And they can ask me any and all awkward, embarrassing, curious questions they’ve not felt able to ask yet.

PART 2: Celebrating with our loved ones
After the girls session, you, her Mother, Grandmother, or guardian are invited to join us for a short afternoon tea to celebrate this beautiful rite of passage and to pave the way for you and your daughter to speak freely, comfortably and openly at home over the months to come.
We’ll bead a bracelet to help the girls understand the concept of a monthly cycle, and to remind them of this day for years to come.
In Part II, The Intentions Are To:
- Role model that it is possible to talk openly about periods and puberty amongst friends and adults
- Give the parents an opportunity to affirm the positive learning and experience, and to encourage the girls to be able to talk to them about personal topics
- Parents share wisdom with everyone present, which helps the girls feel supported and remember that they are not alone, and that all woman before them have been through the same experience.
- Girls share what they have learned with the adults which will no-doubt offer you new knowledge yourself!
- To celebrate a very special time in a persons life - and to frame the natural process as normal, healthy, magical, and a time a girl meets her power.
Each participant will receive:
A take-home gift bag featuring her own ‘moon kit’ (a combination of sanitary samples, and beautiful self-care items to remind her of this special day).
A 22 page keepsake guidebook full of wisdom and knowledge she’ll need to see her through puberty.
.
Plus her own handmade beaded bracelet to remind her of the magic of her cycle and self-care.

“My 11 year old daughter participated in Stacey’s First Moon Circle and loved it! She got so much out of it and is still talking about what she learnt and how amazing her body is.
I wish this kind of thing was around when I was young. It’s given my daughter the knowledge and confidence to tackle this tricky time in her life and has helped her embrace and love her incredible body and not to be embarrassed about what is to come.
Highly recommend the circle to anyone with young girls. Stacey makes the girls feel comfortable and safe and explains everything in ways they understand.”

Private Event
Suitable for girls 8 years+
Did you know First Moon Circles are available for you to book as a private event, just for your daughter and her friends?
This way, the group explores the topics together, ensuring they have a strengthened friendship and each other’s ongoing support for when they need it. Suitable for girls aged 9-16 and for a minimum of four girls per private event.

Imagine being celebrated, honoured and valued at this special time in your life. It’s probably not something a lot of us experienced, but the good news is we can change the narrative for our daughters. Let’s teach our girls the magic of their cycles and encourage them to embrace their intuitive and cyclical nature so they know just how amazing they are.
Meet Stacey the facilitator
Hi I'm Stacey, a mum, school teacher, Youth Mentor and Certified First Moon Circle Facilitator.
I love teaching girls all about their amazing bodies and how to self-care for the different phases of the cycle. I believe when girls are educated about what’s going on and why, they have more confidence and self-compassion. I also love creating special experiences for mothers and daughters to have fun while nurturing their special bond, a place that is special and that encourages connection and self-love.
